The Roller Sports Web Hall of Fame was created in August of 2000 to honor those people, RS Web members or not, who perform some outstanding service to the RS Web and/or the World's Roller Skaters. Entrance to the Hall of Fame is in recognition of an action, above and beyond the normal, performed out of Love of the sport, and/or to the benefit of U.S. and/or International roller skating.
The number of new members per year is limited
Candidates may be from any branch of the sport. It is not neccessary to be an active skater to be nominated to the Hall of Fame. Consideration for induction is accomplished by email to the Webmaster of the RSWEB, nominating the candidate for H.O.F. Membership. All nominations must be from people who are Members of the RS Web.
When we receive such nominations, the selection committee will meet to review the achievement(s) of the Nominee, and will vote to accept or reject the nomination as soon as possible.
THE HALL OF FAME MEMBERHIPS WILL ENCOMPASS THE WORLD, AND IS NOT LIMITED TO THE USA, NOR IS IT LIMITED TO ANY PARTICULAR BRANCH OF THE SPORT.
Melissa LeBlanc-Rattell, Vernon, CT
Melissa offered her time to cover the 2000 Worlds Championship for the Roller Sports Web and all skaters and fans of Roller Skating around the world.
(RSWEB - "Melissa, please tell us something about yourself -")
"OK, I skate and I also coach in Vernon, CT. I have been skating for Sylvia Haffke for the past 17 yrs.
I started competing when I was fifteen in Freshmen and have skated Sophomore ('91 and earlier) Junior ('92) World Class ('93 to '96) and Classic ('98) figures.
Although I have missed the last couple of competitive seasons due to the birth of my son, I am skating classic figures again this year as well as coaching. During that time, I have still been involved with skating and coaching.
I am also looking forward to my son skating. He is just about 15 months old and finally walking. Just about time for him to start and who knows, maybe one day I will be taking pictures of him out on the national or world floor."
"Well, I have to say, I am so excited about worlds being in my 'back yard' and excited about bringing worlds to all the people who can't come to see it themselves. I hope to do a job that everyone will be happy about, with pictures and results."
Melissa also took pictures for me to create a 3D Panoramic of the Springfield Civic Center.
The picture below and on the pages of the Worlds photo tour site attest to her skill.
Melissa LeBlanc-Rattell is another fine person who truly values her sport, Roller Skating. Because of her love of our sport, we have the 2000 Worlds Championship "Photo Tour". Even with a 15 month old child, she found time to "bring us the World".
It is because of her and many others like her that I believe "Roller Skaters are the Greatest People in the World".
